The Test Engineering Design Services is seeking to fill a Staff Systems Engineering position with a talented individual who possesses a BSEE, BSCompS or BSCmptrE degree.The primary responsibility of this position is to develop test solutions for military Datalinks products. The Test Engineering Design Services develops an array of innovative test equipment solutions for Collins Aerospace products and programs. These test solutions are primarily targeted to our manufacturing and service customers, but are also delivered and used for engineering development and qualification efforts.

The engineer who fills this position must have systems, development, troubleshooting and problem solving skills. This position may also lead hardware and test system developments. The primary product test solutions are designed for are Link 16 Datalink products. Experience in this product area is desired. These test stations include but are not limited by the following COTs equipment: Spectrum analyser, RF Network analyser, emulators, oscilloscopes, DMM’s, and power supplies. This position also requires development and support of Environmental Stress Screening (thermal and vibration) test equipment and software suites. Many of the products also requires RF knowledge.

Job Responsibilities

Other responsibilities and job requirements include but not limited to the following:

-Capture, analyze, decompose and translate requirements for production test solutions.

-Design, test, integrate and document production test solutions of moderate to high complexity.

-Capable of producing engineering estimates for individual tasks.

-Lead the assigned projects to achieve quality solutions under moderate or indirect supervision.

-Coach and train junior members of the team.

– Responsible for adherence to defined processes, project cost and schedule requirements.

-Assist with the transfer of knowledge of technical skills.

-Interfaces with internal customers as needed.

-Excellent time management skills – ability to unsupervised, multitask and delegate work to support technicians, engineering support staff and peers.

-Investigate and understand new technologies.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • US Citizenship is required. Candidate must have the ability to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance
  • Candidate should have Link 16 datalink experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience:

  • Experience with developing and supporting production and/or test solutions.
  • Working in large projects with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with test automation.
  • Strong understanding of testing technologies.
  • Ability to work closely with internal customers at engineering and management levels with minimum supervision.
  • Experience presenting technical plans or speaking on technical topics to project teams, clients or other groups as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to generate complex technical documents.
  • Ability to work on problems of diverse scope and multiple technologies.
  • Ability to work independently or with cross functional teams as required.
  • Experience working with tools such as requirements traceability, test planning, automated test execution, and configuration management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • The candidate must demonstrate:

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and quickly adapt to schedule demands.
  • The ability to learn and adapt to new technologies along with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Good problem solving capability.
  • The ability to work as part of a dynamic and skilled team.
  • Circuit analysis (ability to understand circuit function from schematic)
  • Good understanding of the hardware development process and the associated company processes.
  • Hardware skills: ability read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings is required
  • Hardware skills: can update schematics, board layouts and mechanical drawings is desired.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Additional skills a plus

  • RF Experience
  • Software skills in NI TestStand and C#.
  • LabVIEW/TestStand/C++
  • Prior experience leading test solution projects from conception to implementation
  • Factory support experience is a plus
