The purpose of this position is to perform all activities necessary to process payroll, as well as assist the department in other responsibilities, as needed.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for 250+ employees. Monitor all timesheets for accuracy.
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of quarterly commission payrolls and miscellaneous bonuses. Track commission payments by moderator and provide reports to CFO
- Responsible for the coordination efforts between payroll, HR and Accounting to ensure proper flow of payroll data and financial information.
- Oversee garnishments and other special payroll modifications
- Register in new states as required by law for additional employees and manage state unemployment rates.
- Maintain employee 401(k) loan balances and adjust for final payoff of loan.
- Prepare needed workpapers for annual external audits.
- Manage 401(k) and Flex Spending process with vendors and the accounting department.
- Ensure accurate and timely calculation and filing of taxes with all government agencies.
- Prepare biweekly payroll, monthly vacation liability accrual and payroll accrual journal entries.
- Manage the relationship with UKG directly on any system issues or changes required.
- Balance benefit invoices, generate department allocations and submit to A/P for payment.
- Prepare Annual ESOP employment and compensation history for share allocation.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports.
- Ability to access systems and processes and make recommendations for efficiencies.
- Respond to and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax issues.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting/Finance.
- Payroll conversion experience preferred.
- American Payroll Association CPP certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience performing payroll responsibilities.
- Experience using the UKG payroll system preferred.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and V look ups.
- Ability to understand IRS rules and regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Effectively manage multiple projects.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
